Melon pear is growing happily in our polytunnel - one of 3 to survive some neglect last winter and now happily sprawling and producing purple potato like flowers. No idea if we'll get any fruit.
I echo concerns about seeds from China - no idea what you'll get nor what microscopic nasties may be lurking in the packaging. The last thing you want is to import a killer virus or bug. Best destroyed, with their packaging.
Plant World seeds are excellent in my experience and Suttons have a good reputation.

Having recently watched "Gremlins" with my grandchildren, I think you're probably wise to destroy them. It just seems too much like the opening scene from a new Xmas thriller: "The Secret Santa Seeds".
