Do I do anything with these now?

in Plants
i have a couple of little chrysanthemums I bought earlier in the year they are in the ground do I dead head them or cut them down now? Also a Persicaria (?) in a pot that’s looking very tatty/dead?

    The persicaria is fairly normal for this time of year but better off in the ground if you can find a space for it.  Here's some info in it from the RHS - https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/77933/Persicaria-affinis-Darjeeling-Red/Details

    Can't help with chrysanths as I don't grow them.

    I don't grow them either, but I'd remove the tatty, dead heads/stems to keep the plant tidy  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Like Fairygirl,  l would cut the dead bits off to stop them rotting and tidy it up.

    Chrysanth's can be cut back, they will shoot again in the new year, if you have a glasshouse they can be lifted and stored in compost a container, but should be alright outdoors.

    My chrysanthamums have been in the ground a couple of years now. Like yours the heads have just died, but I leave the plants alone until after winter as the growth helps protect the crown from frost. Mine started about 6 inches across the plant, but have now grown to a large 2 foot around and next spring am thinking of splitting the plant, this is a good time to do it at the same time as cutting back last years growth to the ground. I mention this as you haven't said how much room it will have to grow into next year. Hope this helps.

    Ok thanks! Think il just trim off the tatty bits which are going a bit rotten they have space to get bigger next year. I’m really pleased with them I got them at a cheapy shop back in the summer for about £2 a pit and they have grown to look stunning through the autumn! The persicaria will have to stay in the pot for now but maybe go in the ground next year when I get my new garden sorted out! Thanks for the replies everyone!
