Thanks everybody for all the info, maybe I'll put it outside and see how that goes. It was a gift so I'd like it to live. The tag says "the pinery" in Escondido, Ca, but not sure if that means it was imported, but yes it currently is near Seattle. It is 45 and raining, so I should probably keep it under cover if outdoors. At what point would I know it died and not just dormant? Thanks again!
It is happy to be rained on but not to sit with wet feet. 45F is very mild. They are hardy down to 17F and maybe 15F when more mature. There's a nursery a few kms from here that has huge olive trees for sale, in pots, and outside all winter. You are more likely to find that your climate is not hot enough for it ever to set fruit. Spring is the usual time for new growth and fresh foliage.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Perfect, thanks for the temperature tips! I'll move it after the holiday weekend so I can keep an eye on it. Here is what it looks like now...sad. I'm fine with no fruit, I just love growing plants and hope to save it.
