Can I put this 'compost' on my garden now.

Hi all, I have two bags of compost outside which have been there almost a year. I filled the bags with kitchen waste and fallen leaves and then made a few holes with my fork in the bags.  Now there is also liquid in the bags which does not smell unpleasant, I have never composted this way before so not sure whether it would be okay to put on my newly dug borders ready to plant in next Spring...Many thanks for any info... :)

    In a word - yes  :)
If there's any animal products in the kitchen waste [ ie bones, scraps of fat/meat etc] I wouldn't, but all veg waste will break down. As long as it's well enough broken down, it will continue to decompose and benefit the soil you put it on.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you for your reply.  I have not put in any animal by products etc.  It's pretty well broken down so hopefully that's a job for the weekend, if it ever stops raining...Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you...
