Two tree id's please

Hello, sorry for the poor photos but does anyone know what these two deciduous trees are?  I'm thinking a willow next to a beech? I've tried to get a closeup of the remaining leaves on the one I think is a willow and the other one seems to have some yellowed, larger, rounder leaves and catkins but I realise it's not a good time of year to id deciduous plants.  Many thanks.

    Looks like a willow and a hazel to me.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Ah yes, that's why the larger leaf looked familiar.  So am I right in thinking both can be cut back hard and will regrow?

    Also, if one is a willow is that a worry if it's 6ft from the house (the tree's about 7ft tall)?

    Or perhaps a willow and an alder...
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    An alder would probably have visible cones this time of year as well as the catkins.

    Willows are tricky in gardens as they have a habit of seeking out damp places with their roots and end up blocking drains. Good for the bees though if they're allowed to flower. Personally, given how close they are to each other, I'd lose the willow and keep coppicing the hazel to control it's size. The cuttings make good bean sticks if they grow straight enough.

    Thing is I think the willow was planted to give a degree of privacy so by losing it they lose the privacy.  

    There's definitely no visible cones, just catkins.

    It's a shame they didn't plant another of those variagated hollies instead. It's a lovely looking tree.

    Thank you Del.  Now I just need to download Adobe 10 to view the NHBC thing and I'm good to go :)
