Weell mostly I is like a daft mare X PS. Welcome to the forum elliotrichardspooner91. Use any of the above methods, and when the temperature is right for nems use those.
I use a very small amount of slug pellets round newly shooting plants such as delphiniums you only need 4 grains around one plant and make sure you buy one containing Bitrex, nothing else will eat those, only slugs. The best thing is to get the plants to a big size in pots first then they have a better chance against slugs.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
In open ground, nematodes work well, but they are expensive. Slug pubs are also good, although it can be a bit disgusting emptying the m out. For pots, I use copper tape, plus vaseline around the rims and crushed eggshells - I bake them in the oven (I rinse them then put them in an old baking tray in the bottom of the oven to bake whenever I am using the oven to actually cook something) and then crush them. This makes for a harder, sharper texture that slugs and snails don't like. I stand my hosta pots in trays of water (slugs can't swim). Finally, I do use a few slug pellets and keep a wary eye out. They are very persistent!
I like slug pubs early in the season. If you catch the first batch early in, it drastically reduces the offspring later on. Other than that, I put crushed eggshells around things they particularly like, delphiniums and lilies they are partial to in my garden.
So what issues do people have using pots inside and outside with regards to slugs is one easier to control than the other tips tricks please
Ehh - I think it's been pretty well covered already....
There's no great difference in pots being inside or outside, unless they can't access the inside ones at all, which is quite difficult to achieve. They hide in and under pots anywhere. Except if they're inside a house.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
