flowering now!

Mary370Mary370 Posts: 2,003

I bought this peony in flower in late Spring.........it's now floweing in the garden. What do I do?.........dead-head the flowers when finished?  Prune it when it's finished flowering?  I've never grown one before and was not expecting it to flower now.

Looks more like a camellia than a peony!
  • I think the reason it is flowering now is because it is a camelia rather than a peony!  The good news is it looks very happy and needs little special care. :) If you feel you need to prune it, do so in spring after flowering has finished.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Lovely to have it flowering so early!
Enjoy, and just deadhead the spent flowers.
They don't need pruned, unless they get too big for the space they're in. In spring after flowering's finished, as Bob says   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
