Worth keeping sprouting rose?

Hi
Two roses from a bouquet have sprouted and I kept them but don't know what to do with them now  Will they grow if I stick them in a pot or should I just give up and put them on the compost heap?

The flowers are (were) a lovely very dark purple and I guess if I'm to grow them I clearly need to nip them off before the whole stem dies

Thanks as ever

    Nothing to lose?
Yes cut the old flowers off, you will hopefully see some roots too, if you keep them.
My mother recently did the same and kept hers in water, they showed little roots, not sure how long it took.
But you could try one potted up and the other keep in water to see if it roots?
If you pot one I would also remove the lower shoots/leaves so there is more chance that they might grow roots from those points.
Depends if you really want to keep and try. They may be good plants or they might not. It is always fun to try? Good Luck :)
  • @Rubytoo that's kind of what I was thinking, ie nothing to lose by trying. I like the idea of leaving one in water and putting one in a pot so will give it a whirl. Maybe this time next year I will be showing off my new rose bush!  :)
