DENDROBIUM house plant

TadsTads Posts: 210
good morning ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ forum members ๐Ÿ˜ƒ - ย I wonder if another kind member can please advise me what to do with the 2 DENDROBIUM houseplants I was given a month ago, now that the flowering is over ? Can they over-winter, can I save them? & what must I do to care for them (where to house them, whether to water or not, etc) - a kind visitor bought them for us, & they are completely NEW to me ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง๐Ÿค“ (Iโ€™ve managed to find another new one ๐Ÿค—)ย
thankyou,

These are one of the group of orchids often sold as house plants.ย  They need a rest over winter with minimum temperatures of 10C, reduced watering and regular misting.ย  ย You'll find more detailed info here for the RHS -ย https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=333 or you could google for specialist orchid sites.

I followed the RHS advice with my orchids in my last house and they all grew well and flowered again but since moving here 2 years agoย  - brighter, hotter, drier even in shade - they've grumped so 4 are now in the great compost heap and the remaining one is on its last warning.
