salvia cuttings

I have a lot of salvia cuttings in my unheated greenhouse. They have grown very tall over the summer. I want to cover them with fleece in the coldest winter weather but should I cut them down first. Any advice gratefully received.

I usually pinch the tips out to make them grow bushy, starting pretty much as soon as they've rooted, but now that it's getting cold they might not put on new growth until spring.  Maybe try half cutting back half and leaving half.
