over grown Hypericum

advice please there is a massive Hypericum in a garden which needs controlling some say to prune it in Autumn others early spring March. to prune with secatares will take to long I want to hit it hard with a hedge cutter what are your views please regards Lester

  • You can cut the shrubby hypericum hard back - almost to the ground - and they will regrow.
    Personally I would do it in early spring as they provide useful winter shelter for hedgehogs and other small mammals. 
    Attacking it with a hedgecutter or even a brush cutter would be fine.
