Acorns?

Took the dogs on the beach (Eastbourne) on the top prom, there are trees, glossy mid green leaves, acorns, but they arent oak trees, sorry cant put photos on here, anyone know what the devil they are?

Hi, could they be evergreen oak Quercus ilex.

Agree with blackstart....if it was evergreen with acorns it will be Quercus ilex..Holm oak.

Ain't Holm Oaks brilliant! Naming odd, I thought Holm meant oak, so it's oak oak.

They're not so brilliant when they start dropping their old leaves in early summer

Used to maintain a garden with two very large old specimens ; took forever to fall and forever to rot away ; had to blow lawns every day for about 2-months . After this the expired flower stems drop everywhere , followed by hundreds of tiny acorns .

Can be quite a messy tree in my opinion

Also great for birds roosting. There were a couple hanging over a pavement in a nearby town, they look grand, very snuggly, but the birdie poops on the pavement showed how popular they were
