Bulbs not appearing can also be down to mice/squirrels etc eating them. I'd agree with Jenny though, DampGM - most likely dryness has caused an issue if it's snowdrops. If they flowered initially, it's not because they were too small to flower. Ideally, they need to be in a spot that doesn't dry out completely in a normal summer, so it's probably a bit hit and miss if they were under shrubs/hedges etc. All you can do is make sure the soil is well watered, not allowed to get too dry in summer, and then cross your fingers. Hopefully, some may be ok and you'll get a display next year.
Glad your sphaeros came good Kitty! Think the squirrels have had a fair amount of mine this year, but there's a bit of foliage around- despite the builders trampling about in the bed they're in....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@allymountain13 , depending on where your snowdrop supplier grows their bulbs, the dry summer last year may have been the culprit there too, but they should know better and should look after what they're going to lift and sell. Maybe you could let them know that there's a problem (leaves but no flowers) and see what they say.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
