    The leaf shape and berries look like hawthorn but it's usually a tree or hedge.  Maybe regrowth from one that's been chopped back hard?  
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    I think they are Crateagus, Hawthorn. Not sure which one.
