I just love it but I'm still trying to unsee that Strictly rumba... I'm afraid I'm one of those who find rumba just a bit icky. I'm fully aware, though, that many people love it.
I do fully understand their anxiety and frustration at not being able to communicate properly, BUT even we Brits need to understand that abroad, other people have other languages.....
They obviously meant to say "..people with whom WE speak the same language...."
Some folk just don’t realise that travelling has/will always involve an element of the unexpected. If you want to stay safe stay on the sofa 😉
Is that very heartless of me?
Most certainly not!
This couple reminded me a little of what my parents had experienced decades ago.
They got married in February 1968. For their honeymoon they went to Egypt. At the same hotel were staying several Brits and amongst them two "middle aged" sisters. Every morning, they would go down for breakfast, carrying a box of cornflakes. The sisters would explain daily to all and sundry that they always took their cornflakes with them when the went abroad because "foreigners" didn't know such cereals.
When my father had heard that explanation countless times, turned to them and said, "In Egypt, you and I are the foreigners!"

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I can't get that 'The Germans live in Germany' poem out of my head these days
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
