That referendum continues to be disastrous for Britain.

I have a less  than rudimentary  knowledge  of history. However, my husband  hasn't.  On  an increasingly  frequent number of occasions I say: Isn't  it like. ..
and he agrees,  giving  chapter; verse and TMI
The 1930s era  seems  to occur  in many  of our conversations.
Are  we in a repeat  of pre-war Germany?
    As I said,  I'm  not a historian but I hope  I'm  a hysteric

B and Dove, I do so agree with you both.  These are dangerous times for our Democracy, lawful freedoms and our peace.  As Sam put it, "So, yeah - trade, jobs, the NHS, the environment and PEACE are all being sacrificed on the altar of Brexit for the profit of... patriots, like Putin, Trump, Banks, Farage and Bojo......"

The single social group as pro-Remain as the under-25s is - guess what? - people who *actually lived through the war*. Not those Brexit-loving boomers who bang on about a war they were barely born in, let alone fought in, yet claim to have "won". You see, they - the silent generation; D-Day veterans - understand that it's not just about trade. It's a 60-year peace project. A cooperative effort to make things better, not blow ourselves up. And the far-right architects of Brexit, along with Trump and Putin, want nothing more than for the EU to crumble. Divided, they can rule us. Together, we are a united force to be reckoned with. So, yeah - trade, jobs, the NHS, the environment and PEACE are all being sacrificed on the altar of Brexit for the profit of... patriots, like Putin, Trump, Banks, Farage and Bojo......

Horrific statement in today’s Reith Lecture that a significant proportion of young adults in the UK, France and the US do not value democracy but would  prefer a ‘strong leader’ prepared to tear up the rule book ... or words to that effect ... 😭The worlds gone mad ... I’m glad I’m getting old and I don’t have any grandchildren of my own to worry about ...
