I've put Allium Sphaerocephalon bulbs in these individule pots and put them in these trays on top of one another because of the squirrels. Will they be okay like this until the spring?

Maybe some chicken wire over the top?
I'd rotate them so they get a more even amount of light and shade

As long as they don't dry out too much on the lower levels they should be fine Fred. Keep an eye out for the leaves popping up though, then they'll need to see some daylight.

The only problem is that the foliage starts into growth quite early on them.
I'd be inclined to either do as Hosta and Kitty suggest, by rotating them, or else separate them and do the chicken wire or netting over the top. That would be the best solution if you have some room.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks for your help. Yes the top one will be covered. But they obviously don't need the light yet?
