@Rubytoo Not surprised my name was mentioned! All mine are still looking good but can't remember what they look like in winter. Have a lot of tidying up to do as the allotment is covered in leaves and looking at how many are still left on the apple tree I may as well wait awhile. There is a "green spice" for sale on The Secret Gardening Club website with only 10 at 3.99 left and as yet I haven't succumbed as I would have to buy something else to make it up to 10.00 for free postage. hmm. 😕
@Papi Jo Lovely collection you have there. I have two of them but will have to put the others on my "wish list". I really can't indulge myself till next time
Greenfingers Steve Dales strain does look a lot like it too . As already mentioned lots of different named ones look so similar. Bit like Clematis there are quite a few similar ones, that even experts find hard to identify at times. Colour rendering on computers and photographs make it difficult too I think. Papi your collection of photos is lovely and good, also the Heucheras
Fran sorry if it is a question too far. Are you the TT IOM, I wonder is it difficult to get plants and expensive, you said a £10 postage charge so guessing could be. Though that these days depends on couriers and weight etc I know. Chugging across on the ferries. And are there many plant nurseries there if it is.
Hi @Rubytoo. Yes it is TT IOM! Certainly not difficult to get plants locally as plenty of garden centres and B&Q not forgetting the pound shop. Maybe I didn't explain very well but if you order on that website and your order is 10 pounds or over you get FREE postage which doesn't apply to any other websites I visit. Pointless buying a single plant under 10 pounds and having to pay postage as well so feel I have to make it up with other plants to the 10 pound mark. (Very reasonably priced). Postage on a lot of online shopping does seem more expensive coming to IOM than if it was for the mainland. Not a question too far!
Sorry I think it was me not reading it properly you did explain perfectly, I am so sorry. So not so bad for plants and outlets, that is good We visited a couple of times many years ago the climates and weather differences from hour to hour and areas. Snowing a few miles up the road from where we were sitting in bright sunshine. Challenging springs to mind! We very much enjoyed our stays there, a wonderful Island, with lovely welcoming accommodating people.
If you clean up all your allotment leaves you must treat yourself.....Tell a dear certain someone I said it would be okay. I had better take a look.....Now bookmarked Thanks.
Hi Ruby Good to know you enjoyed your visits albeit many years ago . Things have certainly changed since then. Not really a place for holidays these days (except for TT week) as it can be cheaper to go abroad in some cases. Weather certainly can be different from north to south.
Could be a while before I clear all the leaves unless the weather improves. Today gale force winds with heavy rain. Did venture there in between rainfalls just to feed the birds. They seem to be very hungry at the moment and sunflower hearts and nyger seed feeders empty after 24 hours with peanuts half way down. By the time I do clear the leaves they will probably have sold out!
