Help my kumquat tree looks dead

My kumquat tree lost all of its leaves and the branches are turning black. I just moved it inside for the winter. I tried repotting and I only use distilled water for my plants. Here is a picture:

Probably too dry near a radiator.  If you keep it just damp, it should resprout in Spring.  They do not make good houseplants.
  • This is my third year with it and I had no problem other years and I do have a humidifier nearby. I live in Wisconsin. Here is a picture from August:

    Has it been too dry?
    I can
see that you’ve given it some water recently but only a small patch of the soil appears damp. To water properly all the soil in the container should receive water.
Kumquats need the soil to be moist but well drained ... they can grow in any ph soil so they can be watered with tap water.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
