Water lily transportation

I am about to move house and am dismantling a half barrel pond that has a small water lily. Until I have re-established my barrel pond how can I store my water lily please?

Bucket of water in a sheltered place, before and after the move.  It'll probably be OK wrapped up to stop it drying out during the journey.

Don't worry about  it all. When they're transported from grower to garden centre, and garden centre to customer's garden, they're not in water.
They're sent by post in full growth in summer too.
At this time of year the foliage is all dying off so just keep it in a bucket as @JennyJ says. So long as there's water over the top, even by an inch or so, it'll be perfectly happy until it starts growing again next Spring.

My father in law gave me some root cuttings from his before I'd managed to dig my pond so I just chucked them into a waterbutt for a few months and they were fine.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Mine lived happily in one of those plastic trug tubs for over a year before  I  got round to digging  my new pond.
  • Thank you so much guys for taking the time to reply. Thats really useful.
