Olives on an olive tree?

I had ripe olives last summer but I only bought and planted the tree in May 2017 so I expect the fruit was attributable to where it was grown before I bought it (the Olive Grove Nursery, Oundle).

Speaking of olives, I am reminded of my friend Rob. A Leicester lad, he had never travelled further than Skegness but in the early 1960s decided to visit Greece. That was an adventurous thing to do back then and someone told him about olives. He’d never eaten, indeed never seen, one before. So finding himself in an olive grove he thought he’d try one, bent down, and helped himself to a pellet of rabbit cack.
