So i have successfully got 4 Verbena bonariennsis cuttings to root in a pot with a plastic bag over the top. What should i do now? Transplant each cutting to their owen pot? Keep a plastic bag over the top? Thanks
If they've rooted, I'd remove the plastic bag. As they're unlikely to grow much at this time of year,I'd leave them until spring and pot them on individually.
Keep them just damp, and if they are actively growing, give them a 7 cm pot each. Pinch the tops out to make them bush. Try and keep them as cool as possible, but not below freezing, as you don't really want them to grow much before March.
I'd think they would Sam. They can also get very leggy. If you haven't got somewhere suitable outdoors for them, ie cool greenhouse or cold frame, then keep them on a windowsill that doesn't get too hot. Keep an eye on them too, and pinch out regularly as fidget says. I think it's likely they'll get big enough to pot on individually too.
That way, you'll get sturdy plants with a good rootball for next year
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Lovely, over wintered. Cut the tops right off to about 3 to 4” from the pots, they’ll shoot out from the bottom soon and be lovely bushy little plants. The top growth there will be weak. I would plant out at the end of April, but in the meantime, put them out through the day and bring them in at nights.
