Can anyone ID this plant for me please

    Looks like a variety of vinca to me  :)

    Agree AnniD, it is a vinca - periwinkle is the common name for it.  We have this variety and a variegated with white flowers. They are a herbaceous perennial here, dying down in the winter, coming up again in the spring.

    Mine are evergreen here.
    If you just leave them, they  will spread and make good low ground cover under trees or shrubs, but with relatively few flowers.
    If you cut back the runners/trailing stems in spring, they will send up new, upright shoots and have more flowers, but it can be a bit of a fiddly job :)

    Evergreen with me as well. Vinca minor is a bit better behaved.
