Lawn thatch - green or brown?

On Friday my lawn is being scarified and, for composting purposes, I would like to know if I should treat the thatch as green or brown. About a cubic metre of thatch is likely to be generated and I want to be ready with cardboard and straw, or lawn clippings and green waste. Thanks for your advice.

    Thatch is dead organic matter so I would say brown. It getting a bit now for scarifying now in my opinion ( light scarify would be ok ), cold weather forecast over the weekend which will stall recovery unless you live somewhere warmer you know your weather better than me  :)
