alecs red or fragrant cloud

im in the process of building a raised bed for roses. i would like to put red hybrid teas in it. Does anyone have any knowledge of alecs red or fragrant cloud or any other suggestions for hybrid teas that are good for bedding?

Either / or / both... 'Fragrant Cloud' has better scent, but 'Alec's Red' I think, has more grace overall, going from memory... which is a difficult one for hybrid teas, given their usual stick insect appearance..

Where are you getting your roses from ?  that might narrow down your choices considerably...

I adore my "Royal William", a very strong vigorous deep red HT with reddish leaves which look superb with sunshine shining through. It has been known to flower right through to November in a sheltered position in my garden. Can get quite tall, I've got it in 5ft iron obelisk but I prune it hard down to about a foot in late winter. It has been moved 3 times in the last 25 years and is still going strong. Planted in memory of my much loved father Henry William.

I have grown both at a past house. I think I preferred Fragrant Cloud as the perfume was stronger but maybe I just liked the name better!

That's a good place to get them, I've been to their rose garden in Norfolk several times.

The last time I visited Peter Beales they were having an open weekend. Wandering around the garden, I came across a number of substandard container roses dumped behind a shed, so I bought about six of these at a knock down price. With a bit of TLC all thrived.
