I was told fanned Plum Trees aren't usually a great success yet see established growers advertising them.  Please can anyone advise.  Thank you.

Three years ago bought a dwarf rootstock plum and started training it cordon  style. Now have a tree 7 foot tall with four tiers, trained in a christmas tree shape . Even a trained tree will need room so need space at least 5 foot square. Would have been impossible to keep the tree narrow as they are vigorous growers. This has been my experience,  others may have different views, but I hope this helps.
