Fuchsia seed pods

I have several large purple seed pods on my trailing fuchsia. Can is save these seeds and grow more fuchsias?

    fuchsia berries do make very good jam, not as good a mahonia, but quite nice if you add a little extra sugar
  • If I had a giant trailing fuchsia can you propergate them by cuttings, also are they hardy and if not best way to get them through the winter

    Thanks Dove, I now have the seeds drying out on paper towel when is best time to sow them and will they need heat?

    All fuchsias can be propagated by taking cuttings. My neighbour has Fuchsia 'Lady Boothby' which is a climber, it grows up to 6ft in a year, which is hardy, and which she cuts down to the ground each Spring. It's not a trailing fuchsia but one you might be interested in.

    I would sow now with bottom heat ... remove from heat when seed leaves have formed, prick out when proper leaves have formed and keep frost free over winter.
