Just an update on the bit behind the garage. Went through a few ideas but not really happy with them. In the end I took the trellis with ivy away completely, sold the water butt, got builders to pave and level the area to the existing patio and build a small brick raised bed.Rope edges removed and the original slabs laid on their edge as a border so soil is retained. The raised bed has a Cotoneaster which will be trained up the fence and some ferns etc. Since the neighbours fence is in need of replacement after the storms I am training the Clematis 'Justa' towards the cherry tree this year. Obviously everything needs to mature for a bit and get going but I now actually like sitting there now and like the space!
