I agree, it is getting there. As Dove says, you won't really know until it's gone through the winter and starts going strongly in the Spring. If you don't mind me asking, did you reach any agreement with the guy re: a discount ?
I think it’s looking much, much better now (i’ll also share a follow up pic ). RE payment, I’ve insisted on reducing the lawn portion of the total garden renovation by cutting the m2 for the turf down to zero wastage. It’s a complicated L-shape with notches so a good amount more cutting than a rectangular lawn. I simply used this lever to adjust for the slight residual colour difference (to the tune of approx. £900). I will do a final review in the spring and have them back if an obvious difference remains. Thank you to everybody for your inputs on this one. Appreciated.
That's a good result Christopher. Over time it will be fine, but if you can get a discount out of it, so much the better. If the colour difference remains, you can sow seed over the entire area, which will gradually even out the colour.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Looking pretty good now cjh. I think the newer bit looks different mainly because it's shorter. Once it's had the winter rain, and a chance to meld with the first bit in spring, I reckon it'll be fine. Fingers crossed for you. It all looks a damn sight better than mine does at the moment anyway!

Thank you to all of your for your sound advice and words of encouragement. Having done the first cut at the beginning of the season, and then had the robotic mower running it's daily routing ever since, I'm now fully satisfied with the colour match. Now it's just a case of managing the slight patching (I think my wife was a little more 'art' than 'science' when applying the fertiliser :-)). We will re-apply with a measured pull-along spreader.
