Hi CraighB, personally if that was my tree I would add another tie further up the bamboo for this tree sapling, so it can straighten up against the stick. I would repot up a size or two only when the tree roots are showing through the drainage holes underneath the pot. Use the same soil that you have in your garden adding a bit of good compost/leaf mould or similar to the mix. They will lose their leaves in the winter, looking like bare sticks, and will produce new leaf buds in the Spring. Don't let the saplings over heat though - keep them in natural temperatures but sheltered from the worst of the wind and cold weather.

I have been reading about coppicing the Hazel but it doesn't say when to start doing this? Do I need to wait a few years first?
Also I read that you can create a multi stem silver birth from the one tree. How would I do this? And again when would I start?
