Hi, I'm new to the
forum, so could someone advise if I should protect my Gaura Gaudi Rose from frost by
covering it with a fleece tent, or a vented plastic/glass bell cloche? It was
newly planted in a south facing bed this year. I'm in South-east England and we
don't get severe weather often, but do get frosts. Many thanks in advance.
Hello Rr. Have a read of the previous post and the link.
Frost will kill off the top part of your plant but, assuming the roots survive, it will re-grow next spring once the frosts are over. If you see a forecast that indicates temps below -5C it may be worth fleecing your plant for added insulation and protection but a waste of time if the roots are wet and freeze.
