Parthenocissus Henryana Chinese Virginia creeper

Does anyone know if the Chinese Virginia creeper damages masonry and if it can be successfully grown in a pot?

    I think anything that grips on to your walls has the potential to cause damage. I have one growing over an old air-raid shelter (honest) and it really clings onto the brickwork. They grow very quickly indeed, I don't believe a pot would be suitable.

    I have the standard Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) growing on my gable end of my house in a large pot, as long as your mortar is OK to start with (not crumbly) then its fine, you just have to be careful around windows and eves as it has a habit of trying to push into places it shouldn't be
