I remember including H.calycinum in a planting plan when I was at college doing my Garden Design course. The tutor drew a red circle round it and wrote "nasty little plant" beside it. I've never forgotten .
tsk, my edit cog has gone. He's right, it is a nasty little plant and always ends up covered in "rust". Ok if you cut it to the ground every spring, but better off avoided IMHO.

Ha ha, yes h. calycinum is a bit of a car park plant. Was hoping it might be some more special kind! Well - it can stay for the moment because the foliage is pretty but it'll have to come out if it tries to flower (yellow really won't "go" in that section), let alone if it gets rust!

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
