Ident, sort of Hibiscus

We were walking down the canal at Devises, and stumbled across a siding that had been somewhat adopted.  There was a plant that looked Hibiscus like.  A gent said he'd planted them, and they were annuals and gave us some seed.  But we weren't totally sure on the name.  Probably failing memories.

So once again, I'm sorry that this is so vague.  The plant looked to be small shrub sized, and I think that was one years growth.
