We had a wood pigeon down our chimney. It was behind the gas fire. We had to dismantle the whole thing and stand by to grab the thing as we removed it. I wrapped it in a towel and chucked it out, but I was prepared to shoot it in situ (air rifle) to stop it flapping all over the house.
Been out at a local do tonight. Have the number of a man to call first thing in the morning
everythime I think it has gone quiet there is a flurry and a squeak. So upsetting. Sorry to all hardened country folks. I am still a city being after 14 years. Hate to think of something dying in my bedroom!
Moving into the other room tonight. 😔

Liiy Pilly there is no reason for you to apologize. There is a difference between being tough about killing things quickly with a gun or trap. Or being able to put something out of its misery with a degree of compassion. Knowing something is in pain or suffering in fear, you would have to be a nasty person to say tough that is life or don't worry about it. These things happen, but it is how we behave and what we do about it. Hope you get some sleep and the situation can be resolved quickly tomorrow whatever direction it has to take. Sorry a bit tired , and not said or put it very well but hope the gist is there.
Oh yes you did, and very appreciated your words are its gone eerily quiet tonight, rain had stopped and wind has dropped. I am in the spare room! Talk in the villagetonight was about the number of trees down and where all the wood chip is to go. Lots of mobile numbers exchanged. We can never have enough! good night to those still awake 😙

Sweep arrived at 5 bless him, he was pretty dirty by then but very willing to help all chimneys explored and no sign of bird, feathers or poo a total mystery. If it has got wedged between liner and chimney it will die and fossilise, we hope! What a carry on! Poor thing we did discover the cowl has a hole in it , so when gutters cleared at the end if the month we will repair and check.

No Fairy I really doubt it, he was down too far. I think he has gut wedged on a ledge between liner and chimney. Poor chap. Let’s just pray he fossilises quickly as sweep predicts we have more crows than ever this year, I have to confess they are not my favourite birds
