An interesting question I record everything and this year my highest production per m2 was Tigrella tomatoes in the greenhouse at 8kg per m2 These were followed by other tomatoes and cucumbers all in the greenhouse.
Outside Onions were the heaviest croppers at 4kg per m2 and that was a bad yield 10weeks with no rain didn't help, they were followed by red cabbages and courgettes all around 4kg per m2. I did a cut and come again lettuce mix that produced very well as well. I didn't have runner beans this year but they would go on the list as the ground area needed is so little.
My pumpkins last year produced 300kg from 3 plants, so they really did well and only took 4m2 of bed space, BUT they did trail out over around 15m2 I'm not sure giant pumpkin is worth eating however! Mine went to the ducks.
