Grass seeding

Hi

I've been asked to try and repair a damaged area of lawn as shown in pics.

Problem is the owner thinks it hasn't grown properly as its only a very thin layer of soil on top of rock so I'm not sure effective scarifying, seeding, fertilising or feeding it will be?

Any advice please?

Thanks

Its the cut section of grass in pic above not the overgrown area

  • Oh dear, that looks bad. I'm afraid it's the wrong time of year to think about seeding, especially as there are so many weeds nearby, which will quickly spread into the grass when the colder weather comes. It's not a massive area, so I would use turf, preferably the more vigorous ryegrass mix, then in spring use a lawn "weed and feed" Good luck. Ian
