Less sloes in the shady bits, but the blossom is lovely in spring. It does sucker a bit, but it's more of an issue next to the grass in the front garden than it is in that border. Fatsia should be fine there if you like big architectural planting

My North facing sloping front garden has to cope with these conditions. I have ferns, astilbe, hosta, primula vialii, geranium Rosanne, alchemilla, frittilaria. And breathe... Hellibore, Azalea, numerous snowdrops, some clump forming Euphorbia and even some crocosmia. Add to that, Clematis Montana, Hydrangeas and Ivy. Hopefully you will be able to pack your shady garden with some of the plants I find grow well here in muddy wet Scotland.
I deal with slugs using pellets to deal with Hosta, but most other things listed seem to have no interest from slugs so should be fine.
