Hello all. Anyone have any thoughts on a climber that might work in a container on a north facing wall. It's absolutely bang on true north unfortunately. Cheers
Climbing Hydrangea might work, but it would have to be in a very large pot with lots of watering. An evergreen winter flowering clematis (i.e. "Freckles") might also survive but I fear the combination of a pot and north facing wall is a difficult one!
Just checked my AT book. He recommends Camellias (which you can keep in a pot in acid soil), Crinodendron hookerianum, lime free soil, mild sheltered spot, Garrya eliptica, evergreen with long green tassels or easiest of all, Jasminium nudiflorum, evergreen, easy on a trellis, bright yellow flowers in winter. Or a variegated ivy?
