No username

How do I add a username, at present only my email login is available. I would like to use something more obscure, please.

    When you click on Latest Discussions, there should be a black box at the top with your name on it and several symbols to the right.  Click on the last one - cog wheel - and you should get the option to edit your profile.

    Thank you Obelixx and Fidgetbones. I've tried both of your suggestions without success. When I delete the present user name in the 'edit profile' screen it immediately enters my login automatically and cannot enter anything else. 
    Any further help would be appreciated, please
