  The very common wood sorrel in UK is Oxalis acetosella which has white flowers faintly striped with pink. Only very rarely is it pink.
  May I suggest it is another sp of Oxalis.

  With the yellow eye, possibly Oxalis crassipes 'Rosea'  ?
  
  Another clue is that the leaves fold in low light levels.

  I have checked out your links and suggestions, I don't believe it is Oxalis crassipes Rosea because of the yellow eye. It certainly isn't the "common" oxalis that we have flowering in the hedgerows and is far more abundant.

  Thank you for your suggestions and links which I have followed up.  I don't believe it is Crassipes due to the flowers being larger and of paler colour.  The crassipes grows in the hedgerows here and is very common, whereas this one in our garden is far more dainty and sparse.  I will keep looking and will check the leaves on a dull day Dove.

  I checked the leaves today Dove and there is no change whether dull/shade or sunshine - they are larger than on some of the oxalysis varieties that I have and do not appear to fold in any way.

  GD2 you could always send pictures and info to RHS they could help, maybe you have a new plant it might even be named after you     the "Guernsey Donkey rose"

  which suggests it is an Oxalis Latifolia Kunth.  What do you think?  Lovely suggestion Hampshire Hog, I'll keep looking for the rarity.

  Take a look at Oxalis Squamata. I saw this recently on the edges of a rocky alpine garden. They sprawl about and look very dainty. The flowers are delicate pink and quite similar.
