Tbh, l have no idea (!), but my first instinct was to wonder if you have bird feeders nearby ? I had something similar appear near my feeders that had been "processed" by my feathered friends .
Hmm I think i will leave them for now. See what I end up with. I have no bird feeders sadly @AnniD . The squirrels are like ninjas around here and just obliterate the lot no matter where I try to put them. Thanks everyone
