Levelling a lawn

Hi all,

Im wondering whether I need to spend time levelling my lawn before I put in raised beds in he middle of it.

Basically, the idea of levelling the lawn is holding me up when I’d rather lay the sleepers and get on with prepping them.

But if I do that I think the beds will be out of alignment when I do level the lawn.

Am I right or is there something I’ve not thought of?

Cheers TP

If the lawn is sloping you will need to level, as you say the box will be out of line, use a spirit level on the lawn and chip away at the high side until it’s level.

Why not lay the sleepers on the level, which they should be anyway, and then you can do the lawn at your leisure?

Ah so just make sure the sleepers are level and lose a few cm when I level the lawn.

    that makes sense.
