Hollyhock seeds

I have some seeds taken from my friend's Hollyhock. Do I just scatter them in the borders and wait to see if they 'take' or do I have to pot up first? thanks

    They self seed so if you've got plenty you can scatter with success. If you only have a few I'd sow in a pot

    Yes, keep a few back and sow. I get a fifty% success rate, but I don't treat the seeds well TBH. I have never had one pop up in the wild, but I may be unlucky
