Common lilac

through out the summer my lilac has looked great with lovely healthy leaves  
today i noticed it is looking a bit tired and some leaves have damage. What is the problem and what do i need to do? Would hate to lose it.

    The hot summer probably. If it is only a few leaves, I wouldn't worry. They will all be falling off in a month to give fresh new growth next spring. A mulch over winter when the soil is soaked through, and a feed of a long acting fertiliser next spring will help the plant next year.
