Where and how do you grow it? It's usually bomb-proof.

It likes well drained, gritty or sandy soil. If it is stood in a wet clayey soil over winter , it won't like it.

I tried it in a raised bed with well drained soil , they all seemed good then curled up and died , this is this year , I have dug up the last one and have it in a pot .It is my third go

Although they like good drainage, they do need some water. Did you water it in this incredibly hot dry summer?

I did water , used cold to hot water from the shower , hand rinsing water (no or little soap , If it wasn't raised I would have thought of the bed being soggy , but the rosemary near it is flourishing as is the parsley

yes  it is windy but I had it tucked in at a corner , the previous sage was in the open , the one before that was near the edge
