We're in the SW UK, and have been picking our sweetcorn cobs for about 3 weeks now (absolutely delicious!). Only got 2 or 3 left so will leave these for next week perhaps.
First time I've grown them and most impressed.

I'm in the NW and was harvesting mini pop from about mid August. I've found mini pop grows taller than corn on the cob, 7 or 8ft isn't unusual and it's always ready earlier that corn on the cob.

Thanks Zoomer. Strangely, it seems that my 'mini pops' are changing; they are extending longitudinally and noticeably fattening. So we shall no doubt end up with large corn on the cobs with mini pops on the end.

Sounds as if they should’ve been harvested some time ago

I finished harvesting mine two weeks ago. I'd read you should harvest them when the tassles turn brown. At that point they were about 5 or 6 inches long. In fact, it should have been done earlier when the tassels were just developing, for the sweetest, most perfectly formed cobs, around two to three inches. And yes, mine were upwards of 8 ft.

Baby sweetcorn should be harvested before the tassels turn brown if you're going to eat it as a vegetable ...

If harvested later it's best used as popcorn
