Can anyone identify this seed head please?

My dad found this seed head - any idea what it could be? Its completely flat underneath and dome shaped and about 5 - 6 inches in diameter. The individual seeds are like dandelion seeds. He's going to try sowing them but just wondered if anyone has a clue - if its a weed I'll tell him not to bother ☺

They could be a type of Salsify, Tragopogon. But not sure about the size. I don't think they are that big.

If you google Salsify seeds as Borderline has suggested under images you can compare to see if you agree. @nicola_o

I have a beautiful paperweight with a seed head of salsify, the seeds are a little more dispersed, less dense than a dandelion, rather than more dense as in your pic

Sow thistles? Sonchus of some kind?  But the size is wrong.
They have that closely packed fluffiness.
