Lilies

Today have order lots of lilies bulbs what I do when arrive do leave in a cool place or plant them out or pot them. Last time I planted them in my pot and paper came with them said to cover them in soil and put in a dark cool place and forget them. I did that all that but one day I had a look to my horror they have grown 10 ins I don't want to have the same problem.

    They don't need heat. Do you have  an unheated greenhouse or cold frame that you can put the potted up bulbs in?

    What type of lilies? I would just keep them in a cool dry dark place until March or April and then pot them up. Most lilies are going dormant now for the winter.

    I had a tree lilies from three years back dug them up some very big bulbs and lots are small I took good care them at they sew if any had anything on them or eaten them only two had holes in then I put side I sprayed all with bug killer. Today's cold  day didn't want to do garden have made too much work Yesterday I did something so l know you do not suppose to  do but I took the  stalks top of lilies l know they suppose die back it so cold l had a brain freeze are my lilies not going to flowers next year I am so stupid .
