Scotney Castle IDs

Hi.  Down at Scotney Castle in Kent today, came across these two.  I'm terrible at identifying so please help me out.

The first is perhaps a bit vulgar but the colour stopped me in my tracks.  The second reminded me of a bidens aurea I planted this year, just with much bigger flowers.

    1. Nemesia (no idea of the variety, there are lots of different ones).
    2. Possibly a rudbeckia, or a helianthus?  Can't really see the leaves very well.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • 2 Rubeckia, given the height it's probably 'Herbstonne'
  • Thank both.  The rudbeckia certainly had some stature to it.  Cool seedheads too.

The nemesia is possibly "Rhubarb and custard".

Do you like it @AnniD?  It’s a strange colour combo on a flower and possibly a bit garish for my garden.

It certainly stands out @1634 Racine  ! There's another one called "Plums and custard ",  that's a deeper shade of purple. I have that one in a pot and people are always commenting on it. Has a nice perfume (well, l think so !), like vanilla.

I love the Wisley Vanilla nemesia.  The fragrance is incredible.  I think I might try some of these bolder shades in pots next year.
